Celebrations On Waking - Poem by Eila Mahima Jaipaul

I woke up
with a small celebration
of still being alive
one more time I have walked
under the wings of shadow
and lived to tell the tale
one more dance along the razors edge finished
almost dead yesterday
maybe dead tomorrow
but alive,
gloriously alive
today
