Chain Snatching Poem by M. Asim Nehal

Chain Snatching

Rating: 5.0

Her beloved gifted
A necklace, diamond studded
Glittering and shinning
And with pride and love
She embraced it on goglet like neck
Envy for others
Those who hardly noticed her neck before
Started noticing and appreciated it
And it caught the eyes of an evil
A chain snatcher, who planned
Carefully to relive
Her gorgeous looking neck
From the diamond studded chain
And while doing so
The unfortunate things happened
With the giant jerk the soft
And silky neck got strangulated
And within seconds
She was lying breathless
Without the glittering necklace.
Is the life so cheap?
Is the pride possession so murderous?
Or the love demanded life?
Many unanswered questions it left behind

The irony in this poem reminds me of Guy De Maupassant's story The Necklace..sometimes a moment of happiness quickly turns into tragedy leaving man baffled. The prized possession becoming the cause of death reflects the poignancy of life. Life poses many questions that man cannot answer. Great write.10 of course.
