I have no courage to move ahead
and it's hard for me stay
the journey of my love life
has all but defeated me

O my land of flowers
you needed a book tolive your life
see, what the book of the world
has done to you

in the meeting of hearts
our differnces we could not ovecome
at the time of departure
his queries did not stop

it is all the lover's whim
when he will see his sweet love
so she left it to the evening's wings
to bring her lover to her

in all possible scenarios
our separation was a possibility
I happened to say something
and his leaving amazed me

my lips were sealed
but the mirror of my soul
made every city dweller aware
what was I going through

I could not recall today
what was his name or stature
time has erased him, he exists
only in my dreams and thoughts

after years, he came today
with his complaints of love,
and thus, he made me
ovejoyed with myslef.

chalne kā hausla nahīñ ruknā muhāl kar diyā
ishq ke is safar ne to mujh ko niDhāl kar diyā

ai mirī gul-zamīñ tujhe chaah thī ik kitāb kī
ahl-e-kitāb ne magar kyā tirā haal kar diyā

milte hue diloñ ke biich aur thā faisla koī
us ne magar bichhaḌte vaqt aur savāl kar diyā

ab ke havā ke saath hai dāman-e-yār muntazir
bānu-e-shab ke haath meñ rakhnā sambhāl kar diyā

mumkina faisloñ meñ ek hijr kā faisla bhī thā
ham ne to ek baat kī us ne kamāl kar diyā

mere laboñ pe mohr thī par mere shīsha-rū ne to
shahr ke shahr ko mirā vāqif-e-hāl kar diyā

chehra o naam ek saath aaj na yaad aa sake
vaqt ne kis shabīh ko ḳhvāb o ḳhayāl kar diyā

muddatoñ ba.ad us ne aaj mujh se koī gila kiyā
mansab-e-dilbarī pe kyā mujh ko bahāl kar diyā
