Check Engine Light Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Check Engine Light

You came right in
And knew where to touch.
Machinations and tumblers whirled
Everywhere.
Some popping out of sight.

I've been out of touch
For some time now.
Trying to figure out what was wrong.
I felt low.

You came right in.
Listening to the ticks.
Igniting something in me
That's been off for some time.

You grabbed your gloves and
Disassembled then reassembled
My heart.
Right on the chassis of my soul.
Careful not to puncture my lungs
Lowering it back in.

When you touch me, I rev up.
With something to look forward to.
This connection sure to last.
I won't just call you when something
Is wrong.

There's plenty of room in my heart.
Get in, let's take it for a spin
