Cherished Matter Of My Mind Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Cherished Matter Of My Mind

Being filled with a magical feeling as music is teasing
and titillating intellect with a savory minty taste,
settling on my mind.

Adjusting and feeling landscapes that come into visions
of my mind, never faded, always clear and focused, benign,
yet filled with intense solutions all hinged to insides of
intellect.

Opened and taken into cloudy visions of tomorrow, taking
me fully towards eternity, looking over edges and into
patterns and designs, opening up like blossoms unfolding
in a garden of roses.

Timid, shy, yet fully realized in the sacredness of an en-
lightened atmosphere hidden inside, tightly touching and
holding cherished matter of my mind, living and breathing,
never fading into the distance, staying on edges of this
lifetime.

This illustrates a blessed condition of mind. The key word here is benign: your mind has accumulatred so much thought and verbiage, it hardly needs any more input. But the mind can't choose but think so you have to keep processing more data, even though what can be called your philosophy is complete. Now that the foundation of your PENSEES is so complete, you can relax, so to speak. The heavy lifting is finished, from now on - the writing is a pleasure. (When Rilke completed his life's work DUINO ELEGIES in his native German, he switched to French and wrote distinctly lighter verse. Why not!)
