Coax The Embers Poem by David Harris

Coax The Embers

Rating: 5.0

Among the smouldering embers
of a dying love
there always some warmth
if you want to look for it there.
A curtain is never shut
until the final length is pulled.
If you want a love to last
we must coax the embers
until the flame ignites again.

Fire is often used an allegory for passion and as such works beautifully to express love in this fine poem. Interestingly too, it is often the breath that is used to ignite the embers - and the breath too often stands as an allegory for the heart. Coax is a wonderful word, David. It suggests just the right amount of pressure is needed - not too much, not too little. All in all - a delight. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Wonderful use of imagery here. Very intense poetry, yet at the same time, quiet. I like it alot!

The words 'smouldering embers' sets a romantic mood for companionship and love. Not only does this poem have an important philosophical message, but the imagery you so tenderly use works wonderfully well.
