Compass Points Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Compass Points

Rating: 4.5

Beauty lies frozen in death's embrace, reclined
Coffin held, four compass points of my life
Now still, silent as stone, eyes forever closed
Leaving me a lone traveller without soulmate.
My lover was love's most wondrous flowering
Steadfast rock within stormy seas, unyielding
Engaging truth which death could not deny
Reason and truth that fulfilled each day
My hope and promise for each new dawn
Who in life and death was the brightest beacon.
Death took all away with time cruelly stopped
With no more stars, sun and moon in my universe.
For my lover was my morning, noon and night
Beat of heart and life's treasured sweetest joy.
