Confluent Stream Poem by D.N. Rebb

Confluent Stream

Rating: 5.0

In Erie County's northern edge lingers
Swift water
Of the mighty Niagara River

With first great navigable waterway
Erie Canal
Next loud Boom Town once, yet no more today

If you're from the town of Tonawanda
Just boring
As ethnic diversity still ponders

Most true conservatives love to live here
Rural antis
Near river, now only few natives hear

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
apparently Tonawanda means Confluent Stream in Tuscarora (the region's indigenous community)

As I read this, I can hear a folk rock melody in the distance. Brilliant, D.N!
