Elderly self-isolated at home during lock-downs
No family, friends to visit and comfort them,
Grandchildren to kiss and hug, loneliness oppressive.
Coronavirus world-wide, murderous epidemic
Spreading like wildfire out of control, terrifying.
Millions infected, graveyards filling, humanity weeping
Food ordered on the internet, delivered by supermarkets
Sanity threatened, days passing slowly, each the same.
Neighbours, good Samaritans, knocking on the door
Offering help and support, trying to lift depression
Collecting groceries and medical prescriptions.
Elderly watching TV, listening to radio, reading books
Mind seeking stimulation to remain sane
Loneliness overwhelming, crushing, despairing.
