Covered Up Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Covered Up

Do you smell that?

"Yeah.
I do.
What could it be? "

I have no idea.
But I do have my suspicions.

"Hmmm.
Are you thinking,
What I'm thinking? "

Not only that.
But the smell of it,
Is beginning to stink too.

"Maybe we should leave.
This adventure of discovery,
Could be too devastating...
For many people to accept and believe."

No.
Let's keep going.
Look.
There it is.
Oh. Geeeshhh.
And it stinks to high heaven.

"Hand me one of those surgical masks,
You brought."

Why is truth here on the bottom.
To leave it covered up.
And...
Why does it stink so bad.
Could it expose those 'that's corrupt.

"If people don't know truth,
To have deluded it for what truth is.
Maybe that's why it's here to stink so bad.
To leave it kept on the bottom.
So the smell will stay,
Left to leave the people...
Never to discover,
How sad it is to have been had."

Let's go.
For us to reveal this
Would be much too slow.
At least we now know...
It's gonna get real funky and soon.
Especially for the folks,
With their noses turned up.
And pretensions made to fake them.

"Yeah.
This truth has promise to be,
An atmosphere changer.
Denied by those who oppose climate change."
