Coverup Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Coverup

Of the multitude of digressions,
Produced to introduce.
And more about-faces taken,
To reduce established foundations...
Into a pile of rubble.
It has taken just one with an ability,
Picked to sit in a position of leadership.
Capable to pass the buck.
Upon the shoulders of others,
Willing to defend and coverup.
With their loyal mouths kept closed shut.

And this to exist by an definition,
Is an evil permitted.
Permitted to convince,
The people they are represented...
By a corrupted mindset.
To commit crimes in their best interest.
And they should ignore and allow,
Rules and laws to disobey.
If it is suspected,
Diversity and changing demographics.
Threaten to take away,
Privileged lives they have lived.
On the backs of those made poor.
Believing they deserve,
A quality of life.
With the right to identify this more.

"Who do those,
'People' think we are?
Selfish greedy thieves? ? ? "

-Uh...
Yeah! -

"Well...
The only thing they are entitled to,
Is their opinion.
As long as I am in agreement with it."

-So...
We are,
Selfish greedy thieves? -

"No.
We are grateful benefactors,
Of knowing which resources to value.
Why this upsets those who have less,
To not know what they had possessed.
Now ours.
Says a lot about their misguided beliefs."
