CRUISIN WITH WORD JAZZ
---for Ralph La Charity
('it's harrowing to have to rediscover
a poem's Being & to have to re-dedicate
oneself to delivering its Essence aloud...' Ralph La Charity)
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...... ... ... ... ... ...

Ah to be the field o'er which tines are scoured, and dust raised and brow mopped...

Ah to tunnel out from recalcitrance and sequentialize the stations of a sleighride...

I'm talking about the kind of sleighride when wolves were nipping right behind

And when Antonia heard that story, she pressed her skinny body against you

I'm talking about a sleighride of the neural Nantucket kind,
experienced by an English major reading MOBY DICK for the third time

Ah to find the right proprioceptive sketch that keys into the gnarl...

Ah for a komodo dragon's practiced run that deftly outruns its prey

Ah to be party to the commotion and rambunction
of a big melody-jointed contraption
louring down upon its glidepath....

Ah to re-desynchronize the sonic terrain and traverse it in headlong hurtle...

Ah the elusive bells of celestial pathways in the interstices of earthly sound...

Oh the instantaneous chimerical joining of falling and calling...

until the last flourish of retro-rockets sets the pod down lightly

upon a re-envisioned surface, kited and spooled back, off-world and on-site

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
