Cuba - New World Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Cuba - New World

Frozen in time
Since the 60's

Average monthly wage
TWENTY DOLLARS

Citizen of Cuba
Brace yourself

'The Flood Gates have been opened'

From a brief taste
Of Mick Jagger
And the Rolling Stones

To our World
A World of madness
Chasing our own tails

'The Almighty Dollar'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written 5am, room 317, Rainbow Casino, Wendover, Nevada. perhaps, I write best with a hangover, having drank one too many Budweiser's. Wonderful view, from the room 317.

Their average wage is too low. How do poorer people live on that? Will it make a difference that Fidel Castro is gone?

The gates aren't really open yet, are they? But there have been some good starts. Long overdue.
