Curse Of War Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Curse Of War

Politicians never learn
Claiming war the answer
Forgetting those who pay in blood
Lives cut short remembered by a poppy.

War achieves misery and death
Widows, widowers, and orphans
Rows of crosses in foreign fields
Marking where loved ones lie.

No greater evil than war
Destroying a nation's precious flowers
Cities in rubble where death abides
Breaking hearts and minds, tormenting souls.
