Dark Beauty Poem by Raymond Simmons

Dark Beauty

Rating: 4.5

There exist exquisite beauties
Who can steal a man's will to breathe.
But fond faces hold foul psyches
In minds that harbor treacheries.

Hearts that dwell in icy covers
Warmed only by the gaze of fools.
They seek clowns to be their lovers,
Wide praises serve as grand reviews.

Gorgeous girls who worship their face
Find religion in cosmetics.
If beauty fled and left no trace,
They would soon become pathetic.

They think their flaws should be ignored,
Because of beauty that they hold.
They feel that they should be adored
Self-worship makes them blind and bold.

Enchanted by their self-caste spells,
Their Concern for all others wane
Proudly flaunting their pretty shells,
Often they cause heartbreak and pain.

Driven by their self-devotion.
Costly desire must be pleased.
Their hearts hold but one emotion,
And void virtues and sympathies.

They swagger in stylish fashion,
Their displayed Conceit, much clearer.
They only share profound passion
With the image in their mirrors.

Shallow beauty is annulled by the depths of arrogance.
