If ignorance is darkness,
Father, please teach me how to lit a torch.
If stagnancy is darkness,
Teacher, please teach me to move.
If death is darkness,
O Lord, please lead me the way.
A beautiful prayer indeed. As i read your verses, my heart was lifted up. it is true my heart was lifted up. thank yu very much. tony
An interesting poem Sumit.. Enlightenment is an important juncture in our lives and is very important for our development and growth as human beings... However, your poem strikes a very, very complex note.. Divided into three sections of couplets you present three different thoughts here - a) ”If ignorance is darkness, Father, please teach me how to lit a torch.” - a plea for knowledge... A paradigm shift perhaps through the help of the 'Father'.. b) ”If stagnancy is darkness, Teacher, please teach me to move.” - a plea as it were asking for the strength to cope up with life and 'move on'... The image of 'stagnant' water is interesting as water is something that can be shaped as someone wants, i.e in which container it is kept.. c) ”If death is darkness, O Lord, please lead me the way.” - and finally the speaker makes a plea for death, which seems fairly complex to interprete.. Is it because he/she is no longer satisfied with 'light'? ? Or, is it because he/she had failed in finding what he tried to find in 'light'? ? A complex poem, where there is more than what meets the eye.. Thanks for sharing and I hope to read more of you in the future :)
