Darkness In The Soul Poem by leonard daranjo

Darkness In The Soul

The torrential outpouring of words
Our greed and avariciousness
Our total disregard to the inner stirrings
Puts the soul in a catatonic state
Casting a veil of darkness
On the Garden of Eden
The emotion which we take for joy
Is merely a travesty of the real thing

Torrential, greed, avariciousness, catatonic are all hard, driving, penetrating words. A veil of Darkness, on the other hand, is so tame and the Garden of Eden is so long ago and we have no memory of it. We need a new language to describe this darkness of the soul.
