Dead Of Night Poem by YURI DURAAN

Dead Of Night

Rating: 3.5

I woke up because I heard your voice-
audibly, it was a loud whisper in my ears:
“my baby”... it was no dream
it was too real,
I got up, neglecting to take a blanket,
ignoring the cold against my skin –
my feet taking me to all the corners of my house
my hands feeling my way in the dark…
not finding you…
just empty corners
and the ghost of your voice
calling me
leaving me on the cold floor
of an empty corner,
repeating my answer
repeating it to the naked
cold wall.
