Dear Friend
dear friend
if you make it before me please never forgot where we come from
never let your success erase all the memories we share
our promises shall be kept in any circumstances
that we'll always have each others backs
that we'll only be separated by death
never ashamed of me around your colleges
confide in me like you used to
if you make it before me my friend
ungakhohlwa ukuthi
a friend in need is a friend indeed
through thick and thin
this bond we share shall not fray at the edges
because of your new friends in high places
never get bored of my sad stories
your success shall not mean the end of our friendship
my name shall be a stain into your memories
that no soap can remove
if you make it before me my friend
swear by almighty god that you'll give me a lift
whenever you see me in the rain
turn a blind eye to the dirt in me
and shut your eyes to the wetness in the seat
that you'll never desert me or ditch me
I'm writing this letter to warn you
people change like autumn leaves
but we made a promise
that as we are both still trying to climb out of poor
whoever makes it first to the summit shall not forgot
about the other one in the foothill
against all the odds our friendship
will remain impregnable coz we made a promise
friends forever till death do us apart

Here comes a true parameter for measuring true friendship. Any friend who is able to see through and overcome the blinding light of success and still remains his normal self towards good friends, who are yet to achieve success is surely a friend indeed.
