Dear Mind, Please Fall In Line... - Poem by Ram Josyula

Recalcitrant intractable riotous mind,
I wish I could do without you and your quirks,
Ah! But the ways of this world are far too complicated,
And I must summon your expert services to thrive here.

Although a mind-owner, my role got brutally shorn to tatters,
I tried asserting myself as your controller but you stalled me,
I became a mere maître d'hôtel bringing orders to your kitchen,
What is going on in there is just beyond my control and comprehension.

Dear mind, I seek to befriend you, please why can’t you not don’t do something,
When I tell you to concentrate and finish a given task and not do anything else,
Why must you harbour a zillion distractions and fritter away your vital focus?
O! My friend, I only wish you could somehow see how my peers excel when abetted by their loyal minds...
