Deer Morning Poem by Paul T P Burne

Deer Morning

Rating: 4.0

I could feel the dew caressing my sides
As I chewed merrily upon an unopened dandelion.
It was pitch black in the valley below
But blackness gave way to a grey sky the other way
As the sun began to make its morning climb.
I jumped high above the wheat and ran towards the wooded hill
To await the warmth that surely would come.
I glided through the old fence making sure to avoid the metal barbs.
And was on the hill as the first orange rays lit up the glade.
I shuddered to release a few remaining droplets from my coat
The sun bathing me in delight,
I let out a loud grunt to summon in the day.
Fully warmed I vanished into the safety of the woods

A beautiful poem embracing nature and the dawn of a new day, a poem of nature and senses with elements of a dream fantasy; a collection of experiences in nature spun into a meditative reality, a nature of desired nurturing comfort, ending in a warm vanishing ' into the safety of the woods'.

A beautiful poem. The superb imagery of this write made me at close range with this wonderful animal. Well crafted and conveyed.
