Viral Times Poem by Paul T P Burne

Viral Times

Rating: 3.5

Viral Times.

As I sit and think in viral times

In later years fear assaults me.

Is it death I wonder why I tremble so

Or worry of lost life with no more thoughts.

What awaits me at last breath

Where will my consciousness wander

Or will it disappear.

I want a heaven to exist

To be as promised in the book

With everlasting fruiting trees

Waters running past

With a throne I cannot see.

This for me is my eternity.

The fear of death is a universal theme because death ends all life; this poem addresses first age and lost years, then death and especially the termination of thought, the prospect of nothing. Society has many established beliefs speculating or claiming to know what eventuates after death, the answers are religious and cultural, Paul's desire become personal with a desire to exist in a paradise of everlasting fruit tress, water running past for eternity.
