Dependency Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Dependency

We all have always had a need,
For one another.
Be we black, brown, white or yellow.
Or a blending mix to claim,
Our ethnic heritage has more meaning...
If associated to royal blood.

Continue we feast individually.
With a possession of obsessed selfishness.
As few perceive themselves exceptions.
Better than the rest.
Flaunting their blessings to show bestowed.

Although...
This perception to accept,
Has its dire effects.
When truth to face,
Begins to take awakening steps.
Connecting a diversity.
Opening minds and eyes to realize,
Everything on this Earth...
Works at its effective best.
With dependency and not independency.

Yet...
Many caught up in a narrow mindset.
Expect to accept,
They can thrive, survive and stay alive.
Remaining to feed their greed selfishly.
Until...
Brought to their knees.
Pleading from God to be rescued.

And...
As good as God is to prove this to be.
Without fail.
Someone arrives colored of skin.
Rushing once again,
To hear complaints and disrespect begin.

"Uh...
Thank you! "

-Why are you thanking me.
You people are not dependable.
And late for everything.-
