Depression In Wintertime Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Depression In Wintertime

Depression in wintertime

It is still unclear why one person suffers
from depression in winter
and another does not.

What we do know is that
daylight plays a major role in the development
of winter blues or depression.

Daylight regulates our natural day and night rhythm.

Because there is less light in the autumn,
daylight is weaker than in the summer months
and we are less exposed to daylight in the winter,
this rhythm can be disrupted.
