Discarded Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Discarded

Discarded.
Made to think and believe,
Unneeded.
That basic life to live.
Now more to reminisce,
With days and nights to visit...
Regrets permitted.

Discarded to believe unneeded.
Those old and valued,
Things once had.
Replaced to impress,
Neighbors, friends...
And what relatives did,
Or did not have.
Now remembered to have been,
A bad decision and a sad mistake.

Impressions to make them made.
Don't last that long.
Gone.
In these days of 'social distance'.
Impressions kept prioritized,
Paraded to charade.
Fade.
Discarded.
In these days of a 'social distance'.
Enforced to keep that way.

That happiness to get,
Credited to loans and debts.
Has started...
Tears to cry nonstop to weep.

That...
'Normalcy' people wish from them leaves.
To discard it.
From their hearts to be departed.
That...
'Normalcy' has caused people to grieve.
And they want it discarded.
Departed.
That...
'Normalcy' more people wish it leaves.
Discarded.
Up and gone from their broken hearts.
That 'normalcy' people wish from them to leave.
That...
'Normalcy' people wish from them to leave.
That...
'Normalcy' people wish from them to leave.
Discarded!
