When words came
they slithered down the lane
arrived silent
in the night
but kicked down the door
at 3a.m. to announce themselves
Should they pause to
ring the doorbell
they don't just stop at one
ding
but make sure
to play a melody
downstairs to confront
the intruders I found
myself welcomed
in my own home
that became
some brave new world
When they visit
should they visit
expect they might
wish to bolt
keep them engaged, give them voice
these guest who must never leave
When they visit should they visit expect they might wish to bolt keep them engaged, give them voice these guest who must never leave..... impressive concluding. Visited time and again.
These guests are so unpredictable! And so easy for them to leave hen you wish to hold on to them.......great poem on inspiration.....thank you so much for reading my poem.

I like your very novel and original take on inspiration! It sounds like it is about inspiration making a call on Poe or Stephen King! Or maybe I feel darkness because it is 2: 15 in the morning and the wind is howling and the house is creaking. I give this a 10 and a spot on my fav list cuz it's a jewel of a poem
Thank you so much, Susan. Yes, I was thinking of Lenore when I first drafted a version of this some time ago. Inspiration is both dark and 'light'....I tried to make the dark shine through.
