Dog Poem by Milica Franchi De Luri

Dog

Calling you a dog it is little unfair.
Because you my friend
may have four legs and a tail,
long ears that drag on the floor
when you are on my trail,
may have droopy red eyes,
and a long snout, but
you are very smart
and you have large loving heart.
Together we are in a union.
We signed a decree;
You shall be my constant companion.
You shall never live my site.
If anyone approaches me
or our house,
you shall bite.
In return;
I'll feed you with chicken and steak,
scratch your tummy,
and take you for a long walks around the lake.
O no!
You are not a dog!
You have personality.
Even nationality.
In this country you are only a resident
but in your next life
you will be the first president.
