Drifting By Poem by John A'Hern

Drifting By

Rating: 5.0

The year's drift by, our eyes look around
Scenes placed in the memories space
Childhood remembered, love and understanding
Teenage years looking back with regret
Become an Adult, considered as grown up

As a child the happenings reside
Are taught and passed, if room inside
As you go about your days
These memories will stay with you
Until the day you die

Teenage years are development years
For your adult life, ahead
Troubled times raise their heads
Sometimes blocking paths intended
Decisions made, not wisely

Education needs to be expressed
Make time, no going back
Career choices made
Finding love and friendship
Yours for the asking

If in doubt do not pout
Turn the pages and reread
Onward with this newly found inspiration
The book of life is yours for any explanations
Meanwhile the hidden sands of time trickle by

The horrors of older age come to pay a visit
No warning hence as they jump the fence
They do not know when to leave
They walk with you casting their shadow

My look through the window as to how we are brought up by Parents, how we deal with growing into an adult.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Life is a process of drifting. We go through the time of youth and aging, happy and sorrow, success and regret... Such a life is balanced, and we continue to drift. That's true sometimes life lies in the drift.Your poem is insightful.
