Echoes Poem by Richard D Remler

Echoes

Rating: 5.0

.....

it's cold tonight,
there is no breeze,
an icy fog
hangs
in the trees,
the deer are
tracking
through the wood,
hunted,
naive,
misunderstood.
far, far too
foolish to know
they'll be targets
to a hunters
bow.
the rabbits
witness every
crime,
they've nothing
else to bide
but time.
they spy the
silent whispers through
what once was
yestermornings
dew.
nothing moves
the trees tonight,
there is no
comforting
ghostlight,
there is no
solitude for me,
'tis only
emptiness
i see.
a shell who's
echoes
underscore
its loneliness,
and nothing more.
high above,
all i see
is november's moon
ignoring me.
and though i'm here,
where i call home,
i've never felt
so all alone.
