Ember To Ash Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Ember To Ash

Rating: 5.0

windblown ashes ascend before the eye
moved by time as I stand here
tinder kindling is emotions heart
feeling broken as caught up
keys of passion thrown askew
burning memories are embers fire

the dawn's mist falls in place
like cobwebs on the window sill
dust of all our ages forgotten for awhile
seeking something without being found
yet I aspire to celebrate the moment
somewhere far from the eye

a breeze to touch the weary face
while balloons cascade beyond view
to stir the ash in secret mystery
or be bold and extinguish the blazen heat

'oh what fire ' caught from ember
to vanish as dust and vapor
without a notice nor invitation
to rise any minute to declare our fate
as smoke leaves it's distinctive odor
where the fragrant feelings turned to bitter venom
like poison it endures the fire to die and smolder
as the bones of yesterday are cremated
ashes to ashes, dust to dust
