End Of The Road Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

End Of The Road

Rating: 5.0

I am used to walking this road all alone,
my footsteps nimbly avoiding each stone,
designed now to catch me, perhaps make me fall
I think I'm the most skilfull walker of all

I swim in unfathonable depths in the sea
the waves of mistrust always pulling at me,
but I have a life belt I'm hanging on tight
I'm swimming with dolphins so I'll be alright

Each day is a mountain that I have to climb,
the peaks are much higher and I have less time,
but my friends are the crampons that power me through,
the summit I'm reaching to share it with you

Lifes journey is hard and not always a breeze.
Some people are lucky and live it with ease.
The others, like me, take a road less well used
and travel through life feeling battered and bruised

But never give in if you look you will see
are sign posts, obscured behind overgrown trees.
They point out the way, though terrain may be rough
and your senses alert you that this might be tough

But tackle that road, you can walk, climb or swim.
Just push through each obstacle and get stuck in.
The line at the end is the winning post goal
and when you get there you'll have refound your soul.

So pleased that you liked this one Kostas, sometimes in a world that can seem a little bleak it’s nice to be able to offer just a little hope. Thank you. Lodigiana x

Hi Shaun thank you so much for your lovely comments. You mentioned the Desiderata and I had forgotten how much I loved and lived by this piece when I was a young and carefree girl.It was a kind of bible for me on how best to live my life, and it was revitalising to reread it after your comments and I thank you so much for that dear friend! Stay well and happy. Lodigiana x
