Excuses Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Excuses

Everyone someday,
Will find a way...
For an excuse to make.

Many heard to hear,
Are clearly repetitive.
Picked without thought.
Obvious and quick to spew.
While a few will be extremely creative.
Heart stopping and teardropping.
With mouth opening,
Unexpected originality.

However...
All excuses whether anticipated or not,
Should be forgiven.
Before any attempts made,
Are witnessed with struggle to produce.
Since no one knows what life would be like,
Without someone admitting something done...
To do they knew,
Could not possibly pass the smell test.
But did anyway.
To later choose an excuse to use.
Regardless if appropriate to accept.
Or reeked with heartfelt originality.

Everyone,
Someday.
Will find a way to choose an excuse to make.
And this should not cause displays,
Of shock and disbelief.
