Exhausted! And Out Of Rage Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Exhausted! And Out Of Rage

Exhausted!
Weakened.
By a repeated,
Outrageousness to feel it.
Increasingly done to outdo,
The most recent level,
Produced to reach.
And this to prove.
So many had thought,
Would bring a halt...
To their being assaulted.
Yet brought their senses,
Rising to a height...
Of being appalled.
Never before to experience.

"Ahhh. Ahhh."
-Ssshhh.
Soon the affect you will accept.
Trust us to ease your mind.
Give it time.
You must.
Ssshhh.-

Exhausted!
So many overwhelmed.
And witnessed carried away.
On stretchers.
Babbling to themselves.
While assisted by reassuring medics.
Popping open under their noses,
Smelling salts.
Used to restore back,
A confusing of their loss...
Consciousness.
But also seen being inoculated.
By the latest quick unresearched cure.

Hopefully to eliminate and erase,
From their minds...
All the craze they had accepted,
As a temporary release.
In time will be regarded,
To entertain their moments of grief.
With relief from a reality,
Continually to disbelieve deceived!

"Ahhh. Ahhh."
-Ssshhh.
There you go.
Feeling much better now? -
"Oh...
Goodness, yes!
So vivid and clear are the colors.
Like none before I have ever seen."
-That's great.
Do you prefer minted sweets?
Or the cotton candy? -
"The minted sweets.
I use to love those minted sweets! "
