Exit Providers Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Exit Providers

It does not matter,
How basic words can be used.
Defined to mean and said.
To lessen confusion.
And hopefully prevent misunderstanding.
One familiar with communicating,
Will make attempts to do this.
Especially in social settings.
And taking for granted,
Those who appear conscious...
Need not to be asked if they are.
However...
There will always be that one,
Interpreting what they hear...
Clearly heard from an alternate universe.
And demands questions answered,
From a topic they only hear.
Until wanting to argue about it.
Leaving those who sit listening,
Hushed into pin dropping silence.
Sitting stiffly as if afraid to move a muscle.

"What can you call people like that?
You know.
They look okay.
But then begin to say and do crazy stuff.
What can you call them? "

I call them,
Exit providers.
Done to go through them,
As quickly as possible.
And if you are on a floor,
That requires an elevator...
Take the stairs.
