Finally Appear (Repeated Patterns) Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Finally Appear (Repeated Patterns)

When I look into your eyes,
I see nothing.
Nothing bright, nothing resembling that
of a dream.
The person I hoped to run into
Is nowhere to be found.
This person that I hoped to share
Deep conversations with in the
intimacy of silence, nowhere to be
found.
When I look into your eyes, I see
nothing.
I hardly see the time I hoped to spend
with you, reciprocated in the way I
hoped to give to you.
I do see a glimpse of love, but not until
you've walked away and I've lost the
ability to call you friend. When I look
into your eyes, I see the change. I see
the hurt and the pain that's yet to heal.
I hear the advice that's been given to
you from family, friends. All of the
things that were there for you in a
moment of tremendous need.
All the things that have become
familiar to you. All the things that
resemble the same pain.
The same surroundings, the same
friends.
When I look into your eyes, I see all of
these things used against me in the
genuineness of moments.
No matter how close I stand to you.
I see you drifting farther, and farther
away until you're no longer in view.
The person I hoped to meet, in view.
Standing in front of someone else.
Only after I've lost the ability to call you
friend and you're standing in front of
someone else will the person that I
hoped to meet finally appear
