First Snow Of The Year (Haiku) Poem by Denis Mair

First Snow Of The Year (Haiku)

Rating: 5.0

brisk scent of terpenes...
Could fir trees be responding
to this year's first snow?

remaining on twigs
snowflakes that fell through the night
decide to stay put

designs of branches
were rounded and extended
by settling snowflakes

round cap on fencepost...
its backlit edge is showing
crystalline details

on snowy branches
framing the just-risen sun...
a hint of rose-pink

with so little weight
the last few flakes come to rest...
my wish for lightness
