For Carmen { A Story Of Loss} Poem by Kewayne Wadley

For Carmen { A Story Of Loss}

Once the curtains rose anticpation climaxed
Our eyes spoke louder than the scripts and excerts that unfolded during rehersal
I've always been in love with you
play rights couldn't make that any clearer
The crowd roars in silence as through our emotions they'd laugh
they'd lament
although my smile hides the truths my body cannot act out
Masqueraes that hid between the lines as time grows with each passing second
Silver linings painted on a screen in Paris
As for us The stage is set to pretend we're there
Your lines
Do you mean them as to where the stage no longer exists
Or do you mean them as to where your a wolf in sheeps clothing
I've always been in love with you
You've fulfilled my life completely she says
Repeatedly
as she gracefully danced around the pilars of lights
Come to me as the clouds in the sky
Let my breath become yours as together we dream an everlasting dream
Not meant for you
Not meant for you nor I
But together
I said
Only for her to pretend she could not hear my words
Her eyes shone in the lights that sparkled like stars
As nothing in the world meant more
But my feet still pursued
My voice longed for more
If only a thimble in your eye use me anyway you please
Before the next moment dies
Blessed are the stars for they last for eons
