For Matthew (1969-2023) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

For Matthew (1969-2023)

Rating: 5.0

Why did you have to die?
I thought you were in a good place
I know it's been years since I wrote a poem about you
I have moved on
But the dreams I had of you remain
Though, I couldn't watch you destroy yourself
It was too much
Besides, I only liked you, Matthew
I didn't even like the show
You were the only person I enjoyed in it
With yr blue eyes smiling in every photo
I thought you were in a good place
I guess I was wrong

Yes Lee, when we realise thst things are not in the right way as we think we fall into a ditch of despair aticipating a good news somehow.

It's so strange how we sometimes think that someone is 'in a good place' and they're far from it. I guess that in this case, Matthew's eyes didn't mirror his soul. Another very fine tribute, LeeAnn. Sorry for your loss.

There is a sadness in this poem that tugs at the heart. Well done, LeeAnn! five stars.
