For The Day Poem by Kewayne Wadley

For The Day

I long for the day you tell me to
come home.
A space reserved beside you, just for me.
When you do and I arrive.
I close my eyes and press my nose in
your hair.
The beginning of the rest of my life.
I'll miss you before it's time to go.
Soon to return again.
We'll talk about our day and fill each
other with pieces of ourselves.
A regular day, made that much more
special.
To live and breathe in the same
space as you.
I'll always come home to you.
It's without question.
Soon the day will come and will hear
you say these words.
It'll confirm that all of my dreams
have come true
