For The Second Day Of June Poem by Francis Duggan

For The Second Day Of June

For the second day of June and the calendar Winter such a beautiful day
The sun shining bright in a sky blue and gray
Old Illowa a month ago brown now is looking so green
As beautiful looking as it has ever been
A weather temperature high for the day of seventeen degrees
Of only a very slight mild coastal breeze
Blowing up from the Pacific from Killarney Bay
From where i am standing not that far away
Such beautiful weather for the time of year
The flutes of the magpies melodious and clear
Of Nature no shortage of material for to write rhymes about
In this beautiful place in this Land of the south
The dainty pied magpie larks calling pee wee
And Nature so beautiful all around me.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Kelly Kurt 21 July 2018

The anticipation of not only warmth but color, is as joyful as their arrival. Now, late July, brings color but also oppressive heat. Perhaps ten weeks of verdure lie before us before the cycle starts over.
