For You [2] Poem by Gert Strydom

For You [2]

(for Annelize, after Daniel Hugo)

I have lost you, my love
with decades of years now between us.
Although our love does feel still active in my heart

no wish, enchantment or any letter
can turn time around to the days of summer sun
and yet you do linger in my heart and although I am wrong

I do see you sometimes in the far off distance
while I do err in the lovely remembering
but nothing does destroy true love.
