Friends. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

A friend's heart is like
an ocean that forgets
and forgives all sins
of the rivers entering its soma.
He can show the light
at the end of the tunnel,
his torso is full of understanding,
mind free from sophistry
subterfuge and regalia.

Friendship is a unique
social relation for exchange
of thoughts, feelings and
future plan of actions.
A true friend comes in when
the whole world deserts you,
remains fidel and reliable
till God of death makes separation.

Life without friends is
meaningless, inactive and dry,
assumes the fate of earth
sans the sun.
It is, so to say, a heavenly gift
which illuminates the darkness,
inculcates a sense of hope,
cools the heavy and stressed
heart in life of every man.

Purity of gold is known
when tested in fire.
Sanctity of friendship
is revealed when you are
encircled by adversity and danger.

Arguments and counter arguments,
financial transactions and
visiting a friend's wife
in absence of friend are
forbidden for friendship
to continue for ever.
Let us strengthen and glorify
our friendship with selfless
uncontaminated love, sacrifice,
mutual co-operation,
fill our lives with
treasure of pleasure.
