From One Restless Mess Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

From One Restless Mess

From one restless mess.
To another.
Much more chaotic.
Leaving people,
Mentally drained.
Exhausted and undecided.
As to which side to pick,
And remain divided.
Since their minds already split,
Has left them feeling crazed.
Although attempting not,
To admit the obviousness of it.

Some have chosen to defend,
A frauding of truth.
To pretend unknown to them.
While others deluded...
Have become offended to hear,
Their way of life is threatened.
And soon to be exposed.

Everyone is confused.
Appalled and upset.
By all of the faked news.
And everyone regrets,
The normalcy of their lives...
Has taken steps to be reset.

From one restless mess.
To another left to protest.
Has kept common sense,
More suspected to use.
As if done to do it,
Is reason and cause...
To be arrested.
For committing terrorism.

'Terrorism? '

Yes!
And...
Having the nerve to admit,
A desire to end...
Conflict, division and racism!

'Stop it.
I'm laughing too hard.
I can hardly breathe.'

This ain't funny at all!
And I can't be cynical.
Or sarcastic about any of it!

'I know!
That's why I'm laughing.
It's too crazy to make up! '
