From One Stage Of Life Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

From One Stage Of Life

The me you knew I remember too!
But time and youth,
Has a way not to stay unchanged forever.
Time prioritizes its own agenda.
With a taking away those yesterdays,
Along with our youth to gradually fade.

Experiencing life to travel on separate paths.
Seldom comes as an option.
We all are tested without it being asked.
And remaining the same unchanged,
May be a wish but impossible to do.
From one stage of life to another.
As a seed is planted to eventually bloom.
We may notice the growth of it.
But the results of this process,
No one can predict.

From one stage of life to another,
Everyone and everything God creates...
Develops to become,
Something to experience no one controls.
Even those claiming to stay 'down to Earth'.
Ultimately becomes the dirt and dust of it.
Doing this and to age.
With our souls lifted to unseen places.
A process unstoppable only God creates.

The me you knew I remember too.
Can only share our experiences to witness.
And wisdom to respectfully listen.
If that is a choice we choose.

However...
With comprehending to understand,
This process we grow to go through...
Is not in our hands to command.
And from one stage of life to another,
Some do not grow as others do.
I grew to accept this.
How about you?
