Seeing is an Art like any others,
In essence painting by numbers.
Your perception of shapes
And colours already stored.
You follow the unconscious code
Believing you create your own picture.
Belief transfer to trash box
The things you wish to hide,
Like perennial ghosts reside
And sit on shiny rocks
And air their grief
Like imps of hell
Poking at the embers
And stoking up mischief.
They love your sense of certainty.
They know you think you're right
And see the true reality.
But out of sight, the doubts creep
In and join their little brothers,
And so the game proceeds.
But will your certainty recede?
As an artist, poet and musician, definitely got the picture! Fabulous poem, enjoyed reading it immensely, touched my senses interiorly with thought stoking up mischief and doubt, but in the end knowing you've painted a beautiful masterpiece within this poem. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
In a sense we create what we see or hear(in the case of music) so I suppose it's a personal reality. I think a lot about the essence of consciousness. But why am I loitering here? I better go and take a look at some of your poem. So watch out! Tom

I like that you used Faith as your singular key word. So many poets have written about perception, perspective, truth, the senses. You've distilled these together in an interesting way. I love the ending question. I think the older I get the more my certainty recedes, which is good, so I can explore the world with an open mind and consider multiple viewpoints. Thanks Tom! I think its time for a limerick on this topic! ;)
I think I am the same as you in that respect and I think I want to try different forms to express a wide range of ideas. As for the Limerick, I shall book a series of lessons with that young Canadian lad, Wes Vogler, who alleges he's 86 (actually he's only 21, like me. If I could do oogie as he does oogie, oh oh.. oh what a boy! I reckon he lies about his age to get discounted beer!
