We were poor, but we had hearts;
Hearts to give, till we were left
With no hearts at all!

We were wealthy, but we had no hearts:
No hearts to give—no hearts at all!
No hearts to care for our own!

A wave of cosmic energy had come,
As an imperceptible breeze,
And it showed us both:

The ones with no hearts for themselves,
And the ones with no hearts for others:
It had come, and showed us the similitude
Of the circle of sufferance!

The first ones, said:
‘I gave my heart to you,
and you threw it away! '

The second ones, said:
‘I gave my heart to myself,
and I do not love myself, either! '

Give love to feel love!
Give love to have love!
Give love to others, to love your self!
