Give Me The Opportunity To Grieve Your Absence Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Give Me The Opportunity To Grieve Your Absence

Rating: 5.0

I am waiting for you to disappear,
To enable me to miss you.
However...
I can not do that successfully,
If you are going to constantly remind me
You will be gone!
At least give me the opportunity,
To grieve your absence.
Give me at least five years,
To allow the beginning of any noticeable affect.
I will give you a call when that monitoring starts!

Logic, meet life. Not a happy combination, at times. Great write - and a great insight into the devolution of love. I could add vivid autobiographical details to illustrate why I like this poem, but the flow of words and the insight is enough. And, what William Jackson said.

Good one Lawrence. This one is choice, a 10 for sure. It is the funniest zinger I have read this year. If I had a dime for every time I have heard, 'Someday I will be gone.... and you'll...' Yeah, well, don't let the door hit you on the way out is what I say to those that do that.
