Go With The Flow Poem by Jo Elliott

Go With The Flow

Rating: 5.0

I'm off to float on down the stream
without a paddle or an oar,
I'm going on an adventure
while you may choose to moor.

It doesn't matter if I'm right
or if it's wrong for you,
it isn't about any of that,
it's just what I want to do.

I didn't choose to live my life
as anyone but me,
otherwise I wouldn't be Jo,
I'd be someone else, you see.

I wasn't born the same as you,
we do not share a name,
there may be similarities
yet
it doesn't make us the same.

Your route may be along that way,
while mine may be along this,
I know
if I follow your route though,
it's my life that I'll miss.

Thank you for reading 💖

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was about how I was in the process of going with the flow. I knew it, I acknowledged it, but it was another thing walking it. The flow being my life; my journey; my pathway, not anyone else's and that yes, it is in no way detrimental to seek or be offered advice, I am the one living it and what may work for one may not work for another. It took me a long time to just let things be, sometimes I let it happen then still even at the last minute I tried to grapple with control again. I always used to use the proverbs 'What will be, will be' and 'What's not for you will go by you' but for some reason I lost that attitude. It was like a comfy pair of shoes being found in the back of the wardrobe when it returned and I was able to live by it again.
