Gratitude Poem by Jaishree Nair

Gratitude

Rating: 5.0

I have a beautiful house,
the envy of many people...
But my neighbour's house was bigger
So I was not happy...

I have an exotic garden
with the fragrance of many blooms.
But my friend had rare exclusive flowers
So I was not happy...

My signature for seven figures
will not bounce...
But my sister can sign for ten figures
So I was not happy...

My wardrobe was colourful and rich
But my cousin had shoes
to match each dress,
So I was not happy...

Then I looked down...
At the ragpickers with no shelter,
At the orphans with no clothing,
At the jobless with huge burdens,

And then I realised how lucky I am...
My prayers are now filled with gratitude!
