Guilty Of No Evidence Poem by Dorsey Baker

Guilty Of No Evidence

Rating: 5.0

Finally freed
Finally walking away
half his lifetime
tucked behind
prison walls
serving time
no evidence
hearsay
they led him away!
guilty of nothing
but being black
they all look alike
don't they? !
The confession!
their words
not his
he didn't sign
serving time
for a crime evidence
proved another committed
he steps out!
breathing the fresh breath
of freedom
his eyes cloud up with tears
forced to
look at a world that has
so much changed
tucked away for so many years
like a gift unwanted
hid away and forgotten!
half his life
flushed down the drain
justice breathes a sigh of relief
makes you question
the rule of law
and its fairness!
